I cross examined a pear
A pear, a knife, and a lantern were on trial for murder. The lantern glowed with confidence, whispering to the pear, surely they will convict the knife, look how the blood stains the blade. But I saw the blade was dull. I saw the lantern full of hot air. Only the pear had secrets. I licked its mottled skin, bit into its pale flesh, and saw my mother leave me all over again.
