and thought that meant something for far
too long; I should have taken nap time,
gotten a job, learned a trade,
built my own walls, applied myself,
been born someone else, in a different
timeline, maybe far from this one, that
dream land where I could float
on my debut success, sipping from a coconut straw,
where hard work ain’t hard at all
